The San Antonio Area Running Club for Fun & Fitness!

New Beginner Runner Program Announced!  SARR will be hosting a new Beginner Runner Training program starting in June. This 8-week program combines walking with running to build strength and endurance for participants to run a 5K.  This is a great program for people just starting out in this sport or trying to get back into it.  The program includes running tips, strategies, and group runs led by certified coaches and running mentors.  For more information, click HERE.

Thanks to the McAllister Park volunteers! A fun and productive SARR work day on May 5th resulted in additonal beauty and safety at McAllister Park.

The SARR Newsletter is online. The May 2012 edition of the SARR Newsletter is now available.

Annual Election of Officers and Membership Party We're holding our annual membership meeting and party at the Dry Comal Creek Winery. (Yes, this is the very same winery you visit for the Labor Day Whine Run.) We'll be holding officer elections and awarding our annual $1000 scholarships to some deserving local scholar atheletes. So y'all plan on coming. For more details, download the event flyer.

Our Mission The San Antonio RoadRunners (SARR) promote health and fitness in San Antonio by putting on races, training opportunities and fun runs and walks throughout the year. With over 900 members, we are still growing and we're excited to help you get in shape along with us!

Running and Walking - Rules of the Road  Walkers and runners must always practice safety first when training near traffic! The first four of these are Texas laws.
  1. Please always walk/run facing oncoming traffic.
  2. Always stay on the sidewalk when one is available.
  3. If there is no sidewalk, always stay near the left side of the road in single file.
  4. Do not cross intersections opposing street lights.
  5. Always watch for traffic in all directions - vehicles are bigger and danger is ever present.
  6. Light colored clothing is always recommended.
  7. On cloudy days or at night, wear/use reflective gear - front and back.
  8. It is recommended you run/walk with a training partner or a group.
  9. If you use an MP3 player, remember you need to be able to hear traffic, angry animals, etc.
  10. First and foremost - Safety First! It could save your life.

SARR Meetings Monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at Academy Sports and Outdoors, located at 2024 North Look 1604 East, near Hwy 281. (map)
